How do I connect my TSL Scanner?

In this article, learn how to pair and configure your TSL 1128, 1153 and 1166 scanner

For TSL scanners you must connect to a computer and update the current firmware. This is a process that the Idencia team is happy to walk you through. However, we recommend you only update the firmware once by waiting for migration to use your scanners with the new version of Idencia.

If you use a TSL scanner please let us know, we will need to meet and we can walk you through these changes. Or visit their website if you have downloaded firmware to your scanner before: https://www.tsl.com/bluetooth-hid-mode/

If you feel confident in your skills feel free to update the firmware yourself using the following steps:

To Switch to Bluetooth® HID Mode:

Note: This should work for other TSL scanner models as well.

  • First delete existing pairings to the TSL® Reader
  • Launch the downloader (Desktop Firmware Loader)
  • Connect the TSL® Reader to the computer using the supplied USB cable.
  • The driver should install automatically (*)
  • The downloader should prompt as the com port arrives and select the com port automatically (“COMn arrived”)
  • Select Action>Reset Bluetooth to HID mode or Action>Reset Bluetooth to HID Apple mode(For iOS to support virtual keyboard toggles ) (wait for the process to complete)
  • Disconnect the TSL® Reader from the computer (unplug USB)
  • Wake the TSL® Reader (pull trigger, blue flashing LED)
  • Pair to the reader on the device (it typically appears as a keyboard icon and connects automatically)
  • Scanned data should now be typed into the current application on the device

Keyboard Toggle

For TSL scanners simply click the scan button three times quickly to enter keyboard mode.

  • One click is for an RFID scan
  • Two clicks is for a barcode/QR code scan
    • If you have a scanner with the 2D barcode reader
  • Three clicks to access the keyboard mode
