Idencia 101-23: Skipped Custom Property & Item Type Options

Skipped custom property & item type options

NOTE: This lesson plan is designed for use in our Tutorial system where hands-on exercises and datasets can be created without affecting your Production Idencia system.  If you viewing this lesson plan from within your production Idencia site, please contact your customer liaison for access to our Tutorial site for hands-on learning.

If you recall, we skipped an option or two when we created Custom Properties and Item Types.  Let's review those now before we move on to creating Item Groups.

  • Required - Checking this box will cause the field to be required when new Item Types are created or existing Item Types are updated.
  • Show in Mobile App - Checking this box will cause the value in this field to be displayed for each item in the mobile app.  A maximum of four (4) custom properties (including Item, Item Type, and Job Custom Properties) can be marked for display in the mobile application.
  • Total in Shipments - This checkbox is only available for Numeric Item Type Custom Properties.  Checking this box will add the field to the Shipment Details screen.  The application will automatically calculate and display the sum of this field across all items included in the shipment.  For example, a numeric field called Weight (lbs) could be added to each Item Type.  For each item included in a shipment, the application will sum up the total weight of all items.  This information can then be used to make sure shipments are not overweight, and the value can be included on Shipping Tickets and Bills of Lading.

Item Type Options

  • Default Process - Selecting a default process will for the mobile application user to run the selected process first.  No other process can be run until the default process is complete.  The default process must already be created before you can select it from the list.  See Idencia Setup - Processes and Understanding Default Processes for more information on creating processes and the impact of choosing a default process.

  • Information URL - Optionally, enter the URL of a PDF or image file relevant for the item type.  If a file address is added here, the production worker will have the option to view the file on the mobile device by tapping the info icon on any Process data entry screen.

If you use Adobe Acrobat Cloud to store your design drawings, enter the URL of the relevant document library here.  When the mobile app user taps the info icon, our seamless PDF document integration will allow them to view, edit, and annotate Adobe documents right from within the mobile app!

You may also choose to import your Custom Properties from a CSV file.  See the Importing Custom Properties from a File knowledge article for detailed instructions.
