          Scanner won't scan
Scanner seems to work, but no serial number is input
Scanner picks up too many tags or the wrong tag when I scan
Scanner will not connect to Idencia App

Getting Started

  1. Charge your UGrokit by Turck Scanner for 2-4 hours
  2. Download and install the Turck RFID app from the Google Play Store here.

Because the UGrokIt scanner does not have any buttons, lights, or display panels, you'll need this app to check battery level and configure the UGrokIt settings

  3. Plug the UGrokIt scanner into the audio / headphone jack of your mobile device

  4. Make sure the volume on your mobile device is turned up

Since the scanner uses the audio port, muting or turning the volume on the mobile device all the way down will prevent the mobile device from "hearing" the scanner's inputs.

  5. Open the Turck RFID app

    turckrfid

  6. The Demo app will verify the firmware version installed on the scanner.
    1. If an update is required, a message will appear.  Click Update.

  7. In the upper right hand corner of the screen, check the battery indicator and verify your UGrokIt scanner is fully charged.

  8. Tap the Power button in the lower left corner of the screen

  9. Set the Scanner Power level to about 75%

This setting will affect how close to the RFID tag you must be in order to pick up the tag's serial number.  The higher the power setting, the further away you can be.

Note that the scanner read range is like a bubble.  The higher the power setting, the larger the bubble.  If your scanner power settings give you a 20 ft bubble, for example, any tags within the bubble (within 20 feet of you) will be picked up by the scanner.

This means, if you have three tagged products in front of you, and one tagged product behind you and your scanner is on a high power settings, all four tags could be read when you scan.

If you have trouble picking up more tags than desired when you scan, or picking up the wrong tag when you scan, try reducing the scanner power setting and get closer to the target tag.

  10. Tap OK
  11. Make sure the Scan button is orange and clickable

Your scanner should now be connected to Idencia!

Troubleshooting

Because the UGrokIt scanner plugs directly into the audio port of your mobile device and has no buttons, there are only three potential issues that could cause your UGrokIt scanner not to work.

Scanner won't scan

  1. Verify the scanner is fully charged

Scanner seems to work, but no serial number is input

  1. Verify the mobile device volume is turned up

Scanner picks up too many tags or the wrong tag when I scan

  1. Adjust the Scanner Power level (lower left corner of the Scan Tag screen in the Idencia mobile app)

Scanner will not connect to Idencia App

  1. If you are having issues connecting the UGrokIt in your Idencia App, it could be that the device has updated to a new version of Android and a firmware update is needed on the reader to communicate with the latest update of the App.
  2. To check for a firmware update:
    1. Open the Turck App
      turckrfid
    2. Click on Settings
      sc
    3. Select Version Information

    4. You will either see the screen below or receive a notification that there is a new update to install

  3. If you are unable to get the scanner to properly configure firmware updates via the Turck App, sometimes this can be resolved by first updating the firmware of the reader with an iOS device, and then reconnecting to the Samsung device.

Happy Scanning!
