Maintaining Custom Properties, Item Types & Processes
Naming Conventions
- Using naming conventions that are consistent throughout the application and that coincide with the terms and terminology used by your staff every day will increase user adoption rates and ease the onboarding process for mobile application users.
Changing Custom Property, Item Type & Process Names
- The Idencia application is incredibly flexible and can be configured to handle just about any business process. That flexibility, however; comes with increased complexity. Because the application comes with a limited number of pre-configured processes and properties, most reports in your Idencia system will be customized to fit the processes and custom properties you create. It is important to remember this as you go maintain your system going forward.
For example: You may have a Custom Report called Repaired Items that displays all of the items in your system that ever had repair work performed. One of the ways the report could gather this information is by looking for a Process called "Repair Checklist". If the "Repair Checklist" process was run against an item, it will appear on the Repaired Items report.
If you change the name of the "Repair Checklist" process to "Non Compliance Checklist", this could prevent new items from appearing on the Repaired Items report.
If you believe the Custom Property, Item Type, or Process you would like to change is being referenced in a Custom Report, contact your Idencia Customer liaison via the Support button (see below) before making the change.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Depending on the amount of work involved, changes to Custom Reports may be billable.
