What do I do if the mobile app crashes when I attempt to scan or select an item?

Overview

If the Idencia Mobile App crashes when tapping the 'Scan Tag' button, or when selecting an Item from the View Items list, you may be running Android version 12 or greater on your mobile device.

To check this:

  1. Open your mobile device settings (not the Idencia app)
  2. Navigate to About Device or About Phone
  3. Tap Software Information
  4. Check the Android version field

Mobile Devices running Android Version 12 or above require Nearby Share permissions to communicate with handheld scanners and barcode readers.  This additional permission that must be manually set in the Application Settings.  

To grant the required permissions:

  1. Open your mobile device settings (not the Idencia app)
  2. Navigate to Apps
  3. Tap Idencia
  4. Tap Permissions
  5. Tap Nearby Devices
  6. Tap the Allow radio button

Once this setting has been updated, the issue should be resolved.
