In this article, learn how to capture notes associated with process steps, and view those notes in the Management Portal.

Overview
When completing a process in the mobile application, you may want to enter notes explaining the data being captured. For example, if Pass/Fail step is set to "Fail", you may want to enter notes about the failing conditions. It is possible to enter notes on any step that is not a Take Picture or Capture Signature step.

Entering Notes
When completing a process on the mobile app, you can enter notes on any step except Take Picture and Capture Signature Steps.
To enter notes
- Start a new process or open an incomplete process on an item in the mobile app (see Working with Items in the Mobile Application for more information).
- Tap the Ellipsis (
) icon next to the step where you want to capture notes. 
- Tap the Add Notes button
- Enter your notes
- Click OK
Viewing Notes
Once notes have been entered in the mobile app, they can be viewed in the Management Portal. Notes can be accessed via the Item Details screen, and can be incorporated into Standard and Custom Reports (contact your Customer Liaison at support@idencia.com for information on adding notes to a report).
To View Notes on Item Details Screen
- On the Idencia Management Portal -> Items tab, click on the Serial Number of the item for which you want to view process notes.
- Scroll down to the process where the notes exist. If the note is not in the Default Process, click on the Additional Process where the note exists (see Working With Items in the Management Portal for more information).
- Look for the Notepad Icon (
) next to the process step with notes. - Click the Notepad Icon to view the notes entered on the mobile app.
