Overview
Idencia provides a way to group items together so that they can be managed as a unit. Item Groups are primarily used when completed products are made up of several component parts. Two Piece Precast Concrete Box Culverts, for example, are made up of two 5' x 10x 'U' shaped precast structures. The individual pieces can be tagged with their own serial numbers for tracking during manufacture, and then combined into a group for inventory and shipping. The item group receives it's own serial number. Information that is recorded against the group serial number is associated with all of the Items in that Group.

Creating A New Group
- From the Mobile App Home Screen, tap Scan Tag
The Scan Tag screen will open with the Create Group checkbox available - Check the Create Group checkbox
A serial number will be automatically generated to represent the group and the Group Name field will appear - Tap the Group Name box
A selection list will appear
The Group Type selected will determine the number if individual items that must be included in the group.
The choices presented in the pop up list are created by your system administrator in the Idencia Management Portal. See the Idencia Setup - Group Types knowledge article for more information on creating new Group Types. See your Idencia system administrator if you do not see the appropriate group type in the list. - Select a Group Type at tap OK
The number of items that must be included in the group will be displayed, along with the current count of items in the group. In the example below, two items are required and none have been scanned. - Using the device's onboard camera or your connected RFID or Barcode/QR Code scanner, scan individual items to be included in the group.
The group must contain the specified number of individual items, and the Next button will remain unavailable until the appropriate number of items have been scanned. When the required quantity is reached, the Next button will become available. - Tap Next
Depending on your settings, a confirmation screen may display. If so, tap Next.
The default process associated with the selected Group Type will be presented.
Note that this default process will be associated with the group as a whole. Each subsequent time a process is run against a member of the group, the user will have the option of associating the process with the individual item, or with the group as a whole. Individual QC and repair processes, for example, would be associated with individual members of the group. Final assembly inspections and shipping processes would be associated with the group as a whole.
Working With an Existing Group
Once a Group is created it is very simple to work with them. Just select the Scan Tag button from the Home screen and scan or enter any Serial Number that belongs to a group. After the Serial Number is scanned or entered, you will be given a choice. You can work with the specific serial number scanned/entered or you can work with the Group of which the serial number is a member.
